Senior Cycle Mentoring Programme

As part of our commitment to supporting students throughout Senior Cycle, all Fifth Year and Sixth Year students participate in the St. Bricin’s College Mentoring Programme.

Each student is paired with a teacher mentor who meets with them regularly throughout the year. These meetings provide opportunities to discuss academic progress, set goals, reflect on learning, and receive guidance and encouragement.

Sixth-year students are provided with a mentoring booklet developed by the school, containing study strategies, planning tools, wellbeing supports, goal-setting activities, and examination guidance. Through this programme, mentors help students develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to achieve their potential.

Areas discussed during mentoring sessions include:

  • Academic progress and examination performance.
  • Goal setting and SMART targets.
  • Study skills and organisation.
  • Time management and workload planning.
  • Wellbeing and resilience.
  • Preparation for examinations, projects, and oral assessments.
  • Future pathways, including CAO, PLC, apprenticeship, and further education options.

The mentoring programme provides personalised support for students throughout Senior Cycle. For Sixth Year students, particular emphasis is placed on Leaving Certificate preparation and maintaining a healthy balance between academic achievement and wellbeing.
